Most people are not aware that you can actually make money from playing video games at home. The truth is that thousands of people get hired every year to test video games, before they get released. Imagine what would happen if major companies such as Blizzard released a new game and people realized that it was full of bugs and glitches. It would really damage the company’s reputation and they would probable lose millions of dollars. So the company must be certain that the buyer won’t experience any problems while playing and for this reason they hire people to test every game, before putting it on the market.
If you are interested in applying for such a job, there are some things you need to know:
- Don’t expect to earn more than $10-$15 an hour if you are new at this job. Of course after you gain some experience and become a professional tester you may be able to earn up to $80 per hour!
- You need to work for smaller companies at first, because big companies don’t usually hire inexperienced gamers.
- You simply must enjoy gaming. Although this job sounds very easy, you may need to work for many hours every day in order to find all the bugs and errors and it will be very boring to do that, if you don’t have a sincere passion for gaming.
- Consoles and computers are not usually provided, so you must already own the necessary devices.
- Due to the child labor laws you have to be over 18 years old.
- You need to learn to see video games as software. Don’t forget that you will be getting paid to find as many bugs as you can and identify all the weaknesses of the system.
