One day I was sitting at home thinking about my future, and I was thinking about a dream job. When I thought more about my dream job, I thought about playing video games at home. I only heard stories of a select few lucky people who actually did it for a living. I was extremely determined to make my dream job into a reality.
I researched for hours on end, looking all day and night. Finally I stumbled upon some helpful information on where I could get started. The hardest part about being a video game tester is knowing how to get the job in the first place. Once you know that, you are all set.
The biggest thing I learned while looking for a job testing games is that the requirement to get into the field is so easy! You don’t have to be a college graduate, or for that matter even a high school graduate! You see, the video game industry is huge, and the room for game testers is even bigger.
Basically all you have to do is fill out applications with some pretty basic information, and then wait for a reply. All games need to be tested before their release, so if your a hardcore PC gamer, or just a casual PS3 player, there is a job for you! Some companies actually give out PS3 consoles to long term testers, and almost every company lets you keep the games you test out for free.
Which ever company hires you will tell you what the terms of payment are. Most of them go by how many games you have tested out, others go off the amount of hours you have spent playing. Right now I’m pulling in about $150 a day sitting at home and drinking soda. I love it so much, and its funny that I can tell my friends how I work 7 days a week when it doesn’t even feel like work at all!
